Fork

September 20th, 2008

Something i should have done a year ago.

There are times when i feel like writing about my job, conferences, or programming tips and tricks. However, this is only of interest for people who are into Rails or whatever language/platform i’m doing at the time. Some family members in particular would go ‘Gaah’ if i started dumping code into my blog.

Then again, sometimes a good rant, low-level filosofy or just random observations are what comes out. That’s OK for friends, family, acquaintances, and whoever feels kinship with the feelings expressed (or blundered into it through google) (imagine my surprise when, at Railsconf, an Austrian guy mentioned reading one of my blog entries).

This calls for a good old forking. The programming stuff will go into a new blog, called One short note (liable to change) for now. I’m trying to get www.elisehuard.be to point to it, but in the meantime you can find it at elisehuard.wordpress.com.
The more general stuff will stay here.

Thanks for listening to this service announcement, and we wish you a pleasant flight …

One Year bxlblog

May 29th, 2008

bxl.blog - le métroblog bruxelloisbxlblog, the french-speaking brussels city blog was started up exactly one year ago by eMich. Mich was writing on the dutch Brussels metroblog brusselblogt – and he wondered why, in this city where most people speak french, there was no metroblog in that language.

I don’t remember exactly how i got involved. I’m glad i did. I wasn’t as productive as i could have been in terms of articles, but it allowed me to meet a bunch of rowdy, fun-loving brusseleirs with an unstoppable sense of humor. Still waiting for that post on ‘Streetfucking in Brussels’, by the way, Denis ;-)

The blog itself is an eclectic mix of news, events, culture, photos, rants, debates, restaurants, ‘overheard in brussels’ quotes. It’s my primary source of information about what’s going on in Brussels – because it’s the most entertaining.

Happy birthday bxlblog !
